The Community Education Awards would like to thank Costa for their previous support through Costa Reading Week activities. In their two years of organising Reading Week, Costa sponsored more than twelve hundred schools, enabling some 72,000 pupils to gain valuable education about their environment through the messages in Sparky's Big Idea, a Barney and Echo story

Costa Reading Week
550 participating Costa stores held a Costa Reading Week between 11th & 17th September 2017 and children, parents and teachers were all are invited to come along for some great in-store activities!
Whilst there they were offered a free beverage and enjoyed a special range of activities which included;
A chance to read Sparky’s Big Idea, a Barney and Echo story from the Police Community Clubs with their children - It's all about the environment andhelped the kids learn how important their world is.
b) The Litter Heroes story to read, especially created for Costa for Reading Week and featuring a new story from Barney & Echo, all about litter and responsibility in our communities.
c) A special Environmental activities booklet to complete. This was to help stimulate young minds to begin to think about their environment and how sustainability can impact their choices.
d) A special Design Your Own Litter Picker competition with Helping Hand Environmantal - children not only designed their own equipment, but also saw the winning design come to life when Helping Hand manufactured the design and presented it to the winners!
